    HISTORY

    Nevada was claimed by Spain 1519. When Mexico was free, Nevada was part of Mexico in 1821. After the Mexican American War in 1848 it became part of the U.S. In 1859 gold and silver were found in Nevada. Thousands of settlers rushed in their hopes so that they can get rich. Nevada became a state the day of 1864. Nevada's name came from the Spanish word Neive which means "Snow capped". In 1931, Nevada legalized gambling in hopes that will help the economy during the Great Depression. Nevada was populated in the 1950’s. Also Nevada was a test site for nuclear weapons over the years. Native Americans is Nevadas ape is the pautie/washud and western Shoshone.Nevada is also the driest state.
